Overall, I believe it was an enlightening conversation for both of us and I encourage others to take a proactive approach. Chief Finn and I are more than willing to meet and listen to your concerns. One concern we discussed in some detail was the curfew law. Curfew, as outlined in the Boulder City Code:
7-2-1: HOURS OF CURFEW:
A. Fourteen To Eighteen Years: It shall be unlawful for any child between the ages of fourteen (14) years and eighteen (18) years, without being on any lawful business, engaged in any lawful occupation, or is enroute home by the most direct route from a regularly scheduled youth activity or community sanctioned special event, not accompanied by his parents or guardian or other adult person having legal care, custody and control of such child, to loiter, wander, stroll or be upon, in or about any of the public streets, avenues, alleys or other public places in the City at any time between the hours of 10:00 P.M. Sunday through Thursday, both inclusive, and 5:00 A.M. of the succeeding day and between the hours of 12:00 (midnight) on Friday and Saturday and/or scheduled Clark County School District holidays and summer vacations, and 5:00 A.M. of the succeeding day.
B. Under Fourteen Years: It shall be unlawful for any child under the age of fourteen (14) years, without being on any lawful business, engaged in any lawful occupation, or is enroute home by the most direct route from a regularly scheduled youth activity or community sanctioned special event, not accompanied by his parents or guardian or other adult person having legal care, custody and control of such child, to loiter, wander, stroll or be upon, in or about any of the public streets, avenues, alleys or other public places in the City at any time between the hours of 10:00 P.M. Sunday through Saturday, both inclusive, and 5:00 A.M. of the succeeding day.
Next month I will discuss the consequences of being out past curfew.
Until next month, stay safe.
