Summer is just around the corner! That means it is almost time for the summer reading program at the Boulder City library.

Beginning in June, we will have reading programs for 3 age groups in the youth services department this summer:  Read to Me (ages birth – 35 months,) Children—(ages 3-11 years,) and Young Adult (ages 12-17 years.)  We will also have an adult reading program for those over 17 years.

Our adult reading program this year is all about exploring new types of books. For each of the nine weeks of the program, participants will have the opportunity to earn two prizes by reading a fiction book and a non-fiction book. You may choose to read only fiction or non-fiction, but you will have more chances to win if you read both.

Participants may read print-books, e-books or audio-books. For each book a person reads, he or she will earn a coupon good for paying for library fines, photocopies, and computer print-outs and have their name put into the drawing for a weekly prize. We will hold a drawing each week for two prizes donated by local businesses. At the end of the nine weeks we will have a grand prize drawing for an e-book reader donated by Sony. 

In addition to the reading program for adults, we will be offering several special programs/demonstrations of different arts and crafts including quilting, doll making, wood carving and more.

Don’t forget about our movie-of-the-month program held on the 4th Saturday of each month at 1pm in our community room.  We will provide the movie and snacks (while they last). You may want to bring a pillow to make our chairs more comfortable for the length of the movie.  Come in to beat the heat and enjoy the following films:
