Are you an artist desiring to sell your art work? The Boulder City Art Guild and Gallery will be offering a one day workshop in September entitled, “How to Market Your Art.” The workshop will cover a variety of areas such as how to find funding sources and grants, how to find calls for art, and how to create a professional bio. Assembling a P.R. packet to promote your work will also be covered. The workshop will be taught by award winning Las Vegas artist Audrey Fox. Fox studied in Rome and holds a degree in Fine Arts. Her work encompasses murals and commissioned pieces which can be viewed in both public and private spaces. The workshop is offered from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, September 22, 2013. It will be held in the Boulder Dam Hotel Conference Room on the lower level. Cost is $30 and reservations should be made by Friday, September 13th. For more information and to make reservations, please call (702) 501-9219.
The September Featured Artist in the Boulder City Art Guild and Gallery is award winning watercolorist Vina Curtis. Curtis is past president of Nevada Water Color Society. Her art can be seen on the main entry wall of the Gallery.
On the first Thursday of each month the Boulder City Art Guild offers a “First Thursday Artist’s Talk.” At 6:30pm in the Guild’s Gallery, a local artist discusses their work in an informal setting. This is an opportunity to learn more about the challenges of being a professional artist. Light refreshments are served and the event is free and open to all. October 3rd’s artist will be Sue Burger discussing the tradition of “Dia de los Muertos,” (Day of the Dead.) This tradition is being honored by the Boulder City Art Guild by offering porcelain skulls to be purchased, decorated, and then donated back for a silent auction as a fundraiser for the Guild. Skulls are on sale now through early October.
A great way to beat the heat this summer is to visit Southern Nevada’s many art galleries. Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is presenting the most extensive collection of Andy Warhol’s work ever exhibited in Vegas. Wednesday night is local’s discount night. When was the last time you saw an original Warhol?
