Are you looking for work? Do you need to update a resume or refresh your knowledge of basic computer skills? If the answer is “yes,” then the One Stop Career Center should be your next stop. The Boulder City Library is excited to offer a One Stop Career Center opening inside the Library in May 2017!
Workforce Connections is working in partnership with the library to bring this remarkable center to Boulder City. We love knowing they share our vision to enrich the lives of the people in our community through the services offered. They will be reaching out to the schools to educate our youth about the jobs that will be in demand in the future, as well as reaching out to employers to understand and meet their workforce needs. Teens and adults will receive guidance in their education or employment goals, their training needs, and in overcoming barriers to get them on a good career path.
The center professionals are prepared to work with those in the community who are unemployed, including those with disabilities, adults re-entering the workforce (such as those transitioning from the military), teens aged 16+, and the underemployed.
The center offices will be set up in the back of the Nevada Room at the Library. If you have been in the library recently, you will have noticed the changes in that area. The career center employees are hoping to begin offering services by May.
In other news, the library has a new stuffed animal mascot–a Bighorn Sheep! He has had an exhausting journey from Zion National Park to the library, and we want you to help us give him a name. Stop by the library to fill out an entry slip with your name and phone number and your suggested Mascot name. If you do, we will add your name to a drawing for a Fisher Space Pen and a $10 gift card! The contest will run May 1st through 31st.
