Gene Segerblom and her husband Cliff were among the first to bring Art recognition to our city. Cliff was a nationally known artist who lived, painted and taught in Boulder City and Gene continues to support the Arts. Darlene and Vern Burk, with their gallery, participation in Friends of the Arts, and the downtown sculpture project Art Scape, have made a lasting contribution to the art friendly image of our town. The Boulder City Hospital Foundation has worked tirelessly for years sponsoring the largest art festival in the region, Art in the Park. Cindy Bandy and Dotty Conner helped start the Boulder City Art Guild, Gallery, and the Boulder City Spring Art Festival. Aileen Dike organized the Winter Art Festival, Trudi Larsen helped organize the Red Mountain Choir and Pam Ham with Darrell and Eva McGarvey worked toward building the Teddy Fenton Sculpture Garden.
Miss Amy Arnaz has taught many young dancing sprites. Roger Hall, Boulder City Recreation Department, implemented classes for all levels and interests in Arts and Crafts. The program grew and Roger hired Robin Karim to run this segment of the Recreation Department at ABC Park. Robin is another of our “Angels” who is helping develop future artists and encouraging adults to participate in the many classes offered there.
Connie Ferraro has produced many of the murals around our town telling of our history and drawing admiration from locals and visitors alike.
Other artists such as Cliff Segerblom, Austine Wood, Brent Thompson, Lynne Jordan, Georgine Morelli, and Darrell Martin are all products of Boulder City whose acclaim reaches beyond our borders to national and international recognition.
Darrell McGarvey, a strong supporter of the Arts, is leaving Boulder City, heading to Texas to be closer to his family. We of the Boulder City Art Guild will miss him. We wish you well Darrell, “May the road rise up to meet you”.
