A Few Gift Ideas
Being the holiday season, I thought this might be an opportune time to recommend some inexpensive travel accessories that I have found useful.

First, there’s a little doo-dad that I find invaluable. It’s called a Clip-on Bottle Holder. When sightseeing, there’s always the question of how to carry a water bottle, or whether to do so at all. The sturdy o-ring on this clip allows you to securely attach a bottle of almost any standard size to your belt, day bag, backpack, or carry-on bag for quick and easy access anywhere. This item costs less than $7.00 and can be found at www.magellans.com.
Next, for less than $15.00 you can get a set of 3 Cubes for the person on your gift list. These zippered nylon ‘pouches’ with mesh lids are the best find I’ve made in years - perfect for organizing myriad items in a suitcase. They come in all sizes, and are very versatile. You can get them from Magellan’s (www.magellans.com) and Travel Smith, or most luggage stores. I told you about these last year at this time, and have heard great feedback from those that took my advice and purchased them.
Finally, several years ago I discovered what I think are the best travel binoculars ever: Bushnell’s 4 x 21 Xtra-Wides. Very reasonably priced at less than $100, relatively small and lightweight, they are perfect for sightseeing because they show a wide field of view. They’re also great for sporting events and concerts. Check out www.bushnell binoculars.com for a list of retailers. Note: These may not be good for someone who wears glasses, so check them out in person if you can.

And remember, the euro is still looking good (even better than when I mentioned it here last month), and international airfares are expected to decrease next summer. So if you want to treat someone to a very special present, how about a trip to Italy or Greece?
