It's easy to see why Autumn is the favorite season for so many. The break in the weather from the heat gives us a chance to reconnect with our garden. But it's also a time of reconnecting with the community. School is back in, Halloween and the holidays lie just around the corner, and local groups are getting together after the summer break.

The Boulder City Garden Club meets the first Wednesday of the month at the Library at 6:15pm for social time, and the meeting starts at 6:45pm. They're an amazing group of gardeners, bringing that know ledge and experience home to us. Check them out.

Things are hopping at The Community Gardens with cool season plantings and Autumn events. Saturday, October 21st brings us the Boulder City Autumn Garden Festival starting at 8am. Local gardening experts and enthusiasts will be there, along with a plant sale. The event is pollinator garden themed, so that's a hint of the activities of the day for you. As always, it will be a great time for all.

The Master Gardeners are at the Community Gardens the last Saturday of the month with their gardening education workshop. Got a gardening question? They're the ones to ask!

Around town, I've noticed pomegranates have been ready for the picking. I'm making pomegranate jelly using Erma Godbey's (a most notable and beloved 31'er) recipe. That recipe came from a cookbook that was offered through our Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum.

Now is the perfect time to start holiday herb gardens. Some faves are sage, thyme, rosemary, and basil takes off in this Autumn air. Let your imagination fly with your choices.
