The Boulder City Library is proud to host a Summer Reading Program for all ages, from ages 0 to 99! The theme of this year’s program is “Build a Better World.” For ages up to five, we have an early literacy program where you keep track of activities, such as singing a song with your child, reading a wordless book together, and attending library events. Grades Kindergarten through Fifth and Grades Sixth through Twelfth will be keeping track of their time spent reading. Adults will fill out a short form for each book they read to win prizes. For all ages, you can also win prizes by attending library events.
For adults to build a better world, the library will be hosting events on fraud prevention, local history, and crocheting mats for the homeless! Every program you attend gets you entered to win prizes. Prizes include gift cards, books, movies, and so much more.
In Youth Services, we will have a storyteller, a play, a songwriting workshop and concert, storytimes, Lego building challenges, building clubs for ages 0 to 5, and much more! Like in previous years, the more programs you attend, the more raffle tickets you get for the prizes in the display case. So please, come to as many programs as possible to increase your chance of winning prizes. Grand prizes will include bikes, Kindle Fires, building sets, and gift cards.
If you are between the ages of 12 and 18 and would like to volunteer during the Summer Reading Program, please see the Youth Services Department to get a volunteer packet so you can get started earning service hours! You can volunteer for providing computer assistance, helping out at library programs, and signing people up for the Summer Reading Program.
The Summer Reading Program starts on June 12th at 10am and will run until August 4th. Sign-ups will not start until June 12th at 10am. For more information, please call us at 702-293-1281 or visit our website at www.bclibrary.org.
