4th Annual Boulder City Beerfest!
by Landru Archons

The Fourth Annual Boulder City Beerfest returns on Saturday, March 26th from 1pm to 7pm in historic Boulder City’s Wilbur Square Park!

Hosted each year by the Boulder Dam Brewing Company, the "BCBF" is planned for beer lovers and guests to enjoy a great variety of craft beer from over thirty brewery tents, menu items from eight food trucks, and "beer centric" specialty vendors all on-site. Live music and brewing demonstrations from the local home brewers club will help make this a fantastic day!

I was able to meet with Boulder Dam Brewing Company owner and host of the BCBF, Todd Cook, and festival coordinator, Michael Pfohl, for a few beers at the brewery during hoppy hour.

“The Las Vegas area now has many beer festivals each year, but this one is my favorite because of the great location,” said Todd. “The layout allows all the brewers to set up along the edge of the park, with the food trucks on top, so all the guests get to spend the day in the middle of the park, on the grass and under the shade trees.”

“We also have the unique feature of being the only festival in Nevada that has beer being brewed on site,” continued Michael. “The local home brewers club sets up three demonstration areas using equipment for beginners, intermediate and a semi-pro system in the center of the park. For most of the day, they’ll be making beer and talking about the process at each level. Besides the interactive fun and information they provide, the aroma of fresh beer really adds to the festival atmosphere.”

Other features of the day include live music on the stage from local favorite bands. Delta Bombers return this year as the headliner. Fresh food from eight food trucks including Cousins Lobster, Dragon Grille, El Shuko, Truck-U BBQ, and Vegas Strip Cheeze Truck. Visit the BCBF website to see the event layout map.

The Nevada Beer Lovers Club will host the always popular BCBF Beer Games several times during the day with official BCBF Medallions for the winning teams. Find the NBL club tent and games in the middle of the park under the trees.

The BCBF is also a fundraiser for Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit organization that helps the families of service members, veterans and wounded warriors by offering emergency and other financial assistance, caregiver support initiatives, and programs that provide short-term transitional housing and other housing needs. Operation Homefront’s Nevada Executive Director Annie Baca said, “The Boulder City Beerfest is a perfect way for beer lovers to have great beers and food, in a beautiful atmosphere, and help raise funds to meet the needs of genuine American heroes.”

Tickets at the gate will be $60 for VIP early entry at 1pm, and $40 for the General Admission time of 3pm. Tickets are available in advance for $45 VIP and $30 General Admission at the Boulder Dam Brewery and from the BCBF website.

Upon entry, guests will receive an ID wristband and a five-ounce souvenir glass for sampling a variety of great beers! This is a great opportunity to visit each of the thirty brewery tents, sample new seasonal beers, and find some old favorites. The park is open and family friendly during the festival. Only those who wish to sample the beers need to purchase the tickets. All are welcome to visit the food trucks and vendors, dance to the music, and enjoy the overall festivities.
