The members of the Lady Eagles basketball team are just getting ready to start their league play and have been working hard to be successful again in the 2014 season.
BCHS has a new Girls’ Head Coach, Paul Dosch. Paul is very familiar to the kids, as he was the Assistant Varsity Coach for the boys team for the last two years. This has been tough on the seniors, as this is their fourth new Head Coach in four years.
“I’m excited to be the Girls’ Head Coach,” Dosch said. “I’ve walked into a good group of upper classmen.”
Paul will be relying on seniors Whitney Barlow, Alexandra Rovacchi and Jana Williams; and juniors Katliyn Flores and Alyssa Ybarra as his starters and team leaders.
The other members of this year’s varsity team are: juniors Kaylin Kolteryahn, Sam Hanson and Riley Dosch; sophomore Megan Morton; and freshman Julia Worrall.
On the junior varsity squad are: juniors Sariah Gneiting, Amanda Mraz and Brittany Tippets; sophomores Brooke Beckstrand, Caitlin Blumenthal, Tiara Carranza, Tara Cox, Emma Jeppsen, Alexandria Mulheron, Lauren Mullens, Amber Oliver; and freshman Tara Spinkelink.
Making up the freshmen team are: Courtney Blumenthal, Hannah Doane, Abbigail Harland, Alea Lehr, Cassandra McCracken, Skyler McKay, Rayma Montez, Victoria Mulheron and Makenzie Onken.
Dosch’s Assistant Varsity Coach is Kirk Estes, who has been so helpful with our Lady Bobcats teams. The Junior Varsity Coach is Kelly Lehr, and the Freshmen Coach is Shauna Scheppman.
“The girls are excited and working hard,” Paul added, “and they’re buying into what we’re doing. We’re gonna be really competitive, and it will start on the defensive end.”
The Girls’ January home games are against Sunrise Mountain on the 10th, Chaparral on the 21st, Virgin Valley on the 23rd and Moapa Valley on the 29th.
The varsity games are at 5pm, so why not come out and cheer for your favorite Lady Eagles!
