The Bobcats basketball teams are preparing for their busiest month, with seven games against division rivals in February, before their hunt for March playoff berths.
The boys team has a new Head Coach this year in Will Ferrence, and he is assisted by former Basic and Boulder City Head Coach Kurt Bailey.
Ferrence has a very talented group of guards who have played together for three years and are the strength of the team in 2014.
His starters this season are: eighth graders Billy Ferrence, Carson Balistere, Clayton Pendleton and Tanner Montgomery; and seventh grader Karson Bailey. Their sixth man off the bench is talented eighth grader Zach Trone.
The other Bobcats are: Gavin Balistere, Travis Hungerford, Chandler Larson, Jackson Wright, Ben Fraser, Teddy Lobkowicz, Nolan Herr, Elias Woodbury, Christian Long, and Tyson and Austin Morris.
This is my third year coaching the Lady Bobcats, and I have a great group of girls playing for us in 2014.
Former Lady Eagles and Lady Bobcats Head Coach Brian Lemmel is our Assistant Coach this season, and what a difference he has made. With two of us at practice, we have been able to push the girls to play to their potential, and prepare them to compete against some of the toughest teams in the league.
We are being led this year by our “twin towers,” eighth graders Maggie Roe and Jerra Hinson, who make their presence felt under the boards. Our other starters are seventh grade guards Ryann Reese and Hannah Estes, and sixth grade point guard Keely Alexander.
The other members of our 2014 team are: Hannah Miller, Gracie Hess, Abby Giunta, Malia Davis, Maggie Clary, Millie Belcourt, Tori Spinkelink, Maddy Walker, Setia Cox and Gabby Mullen.
We are fortunate to have three excellent managers in Joy Miller, Becca Mulheron and Erin Taggard.
The Bobcats have home games on February 3rd and 25th, and will be on the road for the rest of the month.
