Zumba Mania

Zumba combines Latin and International music with a fun and effective workout system. You can join the Zumba fun at a free Zumba event on Saturday, October 26th for ages four-years-old and up at the ABC Park gymnasium. Ages thirteen-years-old up Zumba will take place from 9-10am and the youth Zumbatomic program will take place from 10:15-11am.

With this being the weekend before Halloween, who could resist not having Halloween themed Zumba routines? So, grab your best athletic shoes and come shake your tail feather to some motivating musical beats.

Zumba hit the Boulder City scene in November of 2010 via the enthusiastic efforts of instructor Shannon Pinkard. With a lifetime of dance experience, Shannon Pinkard was mesmerized with Zumba the first time she was exposed to it. “This dance exercise program was a perfect fit for me and I immediately took the necessary steps to become a certified Zumba instructor. Zumba is wonderfully flexible in that participants can engage in the program at whatever physical level they are capable of. It’s the music that sets the upbeat tone that is so attractive. After time spent in the adult world of Zumba, I branched out to certify in youth Zumba called Zumbatomics. Once you get a taste of Zumba, youth or adult, I’m sure you’ll want to join the ongoing Zumba classes offered through the Parks and Recreation Department.”

Ongoing Zumba classes are offered at the ABC Park Gymnasium (located on the back side of the property)  Monday, Thursday and Saturday from 9-10am and Monday and Thursday evenings from 6-7pm for ages ten-years-old and up. The facility does have a water fountain, but participates are encouraged to bring their own water.

The youth Zumbatomics program for ages four through twelve-years-old is offered on Monday from 5-5:45pm. To register for these classes, please stop by the Recreation Department at 900 Arizona Street to pay per session. If you don’t make the free event and you still want to give Zumba a try, you can pay a drop-in rate at any class.
