Over the years, the senior exercise class has been augmented, adjusting to senior exercise best practices. To veteran student Eleanor Beckert, this class has helped her keep active for over twenty years. That’s right, Eleanor started taking this class in her seventies and will turn ninety five-years-old this March. She is an inspiration to us all.
In speaking with Eleanor she stated she would like to see more people benefit from this class as she has. She encourages people to “get up off the couch, come exercise, and be with people.” Students have great comments about the class and have identified that they have increased mobility and strength, and this class is helping with bone density issues. In addition to the physical benefits, class instructor Marcie Gibson and the students look out for each other and have formed quite a bond.
According to Marcie, “We work the entire body from eyes to ankles. In class, many benefits are realized using proper breathing techniques and balance. This class will get you going in the morning and promote a healthier, better you in 2013!”
