Reserving City Facilities

A question the Recreation Department is often asked is, “Can I use one of the gazebos in the park without a reservation?” The answer to this question is yes, however if a particular City facility is reserved, the party who reserved the facility officially has use of the facility over the person who did not reserve it. This also extends to the ever popular Multi-Use Building.

Picture this, you have not reserved a gazebo yet you are set up in one for a family picnic that you start at 10am and plan to use until 2pm. Another group show’s up and they have the gazebo reserved at noon. The expectation is that you will move and allow the party who has reserved the gazebo the space. I wouldn’t want to take the risk that I would have to move my family picnic midstream. The bottom line is that it is in your best interest to reserve City facilities when you want to use them.

Residents may reserve parks, gazebos and the Multi-Use Building for a $50 refundable damage deposit. The fee for use of the facility will vary based on location and the time of year. Final facility use payment is to be paid a minimum of one week in advance of your event date.

If coming into our office to make these arrangements does not work in your schedule, you will find the Facility Use Application on the City website at bcnv.org under the Department tab choose Recreation Department. On the Recreation Department’s front page you will find the Facility Use Application form. Please complete the form and return it to our office via one of the methods identified on the form along with the deposit and use fee, if possible. Please call 293-9256 to verify use fees. If you choose to fax in your request, a credit card payment can be taken over the phone.

There is a great demand for facilities during the holiday season. Reserving facilities is on a first come first served basis. It is recommend that you secure City facilities as early as possible for the best selection of times and dates. When obtaining reserved signs and facility keys, please remember the Recreation Department is open Monday through Thursday 7am to 6pm. For additional information please call 293-9256.
