This year’s 4th of July Damboree Celebration was a huge success thanks to the dedicated efforts of the volunteer Damboree Committee and City Staff.
Starting from the Rotary Pancake Breakfast to the fireworks show, participants enjoyed themselves with a wide variety of events throughout the day.
The parade went off at 9:00am starting with a flyover by the Boulder City Veterans Flying Group. The formation of nine planes gave the crowd a thrill by passing over the Nevada Way parade route a total of three times.
The extension of the water zone from Avenue A to Aztec seemed to work out great giving the large spectator crowd more space to participate in water play and watch the parade. The parade spectators also should be commended for following the rules. This year, we did not experience any problems with illegal water balloons being thrown at spectators and parade participants.
Events in Broadbent Park went very well including local non-profit vendors selling hamburgers, hotdogs, silly string and other fun items. The Parks and Recreation Department did a great job in coordinating the coin toss at the City Pool and also putting on the fun and games in the park for children and adults.
The celebration switched down to Veterans Memorial Park during the late afternoon with DJ Mike Pacini providing music for the large crowd. The crowd screamed in anticipation as the fireworks show started at 9:00pm and lasted approximately thirty-five minutes.
All in all, Boulder City had a great Damboree Celebration. Special thanks to the Damboree Committee and City Staff for providing a safe and enjoyable 4th of July celebration for all.
