Fun Trip to Cedar City

Here’s a travel suggestion for those who want to get away, but would rather not fly, or maybe not even drive, to do it. I think everyone will enjoy this overnight trip sponsored by the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce.

How does this sound? Early on a Saturday morning in October (the 13th to be exact), you board a luxury motor coach in Boulder City to ride, in style, the three hours to Cedar City, Utah, enjoying the lovely scenery and a sack lunch along the way. Upon arrival, and after check-in at the Abbey Inn, you are whisked by bus to the Shakespeare Festival campus, for an interesting orientation before enjoying your first play of the day, the fabulous musical LES MISERABLES.

The play is over, it’s now 5 o’clock and you’re getting hungry, so after you dry your eyes (the musical is very moving), and while still humming I Dreamed a Dream, Bring Him Home, and upbeat Master of the House, you walk the short distance to one of the nicest restaurants in town, the Garden House, for a lovely dinner.

After dessert, you’re ready for more entertainment, so you wander back to the Festival grounds to attend the orientation and presentation of STONES IN HIS POCKETS, your second play of the day. I suspect you may not be as familiar with this one as you are with Les Mis, but trust me, you will enjoy this award winning, Tony nominated comedy/drama, in which two actors portray 15 characters.

Following the play, you board the bus back to the Abbey Inn. Next morning, following a full breakfast at the Inn, and an optional literary seminar in the grove, you are driven back to Boulder City, stopping along the way for a nice lunch at The Cracker Barrel in St. George.

Two plays, a breakfast, two lunches, one dinner, two orientations and a literary seminar, a night at the Abbey Inn, and comfortable transportation to-and-fro. All for just $280 per person (less if sharing 3+). You couldn’t do it on your own for this price! I’m going. How about you?

Attendance is strictly limited to 30 people, so reserve your spot today at the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, 465 Nevada Way. Call 293-2034 for more information. This Chamber fund-raising event has been organized by Drifter Sister Catch the Wind Tours.
