Viniyoga

A friend of mine who is a doctor has told me that, “motion is lotion for the joints.” You can improve your quality of life by incorporating supportive movement into your daily routine via Viniyoga.

Southern Nevada’s only AVI certified Viniyoga teacher and yoga therapist can be found right here in our own backyard. She is Lyn Banas Petronsky, and she has been offering these unique classes for our residents and neighbors since 2005. She has taught more than 7,000 hours in our Southern Nevada Valley.

Lyn’s classes can be found at ABC Park in the administration building and are open to all ages and ability levels. Viniyoga is an approach to yoga that is logical, sensible, scientific, and adaptable to you. Lyn specializes in teaching you how to make the postures work for you, not the other way around. You will work at your own pace in any of these classes.

“Viniyoga for Health” classes bring the body, breath and mind into balance. This happens through the use of movement and breath. It really is as simple as that. Lyn often refers to Viniyoga as the “the yoga that just makes sense.”

“Healing” classes are therapeutic and condition specific. These classes can provide pain relief, relax stiff muscles, increase range of motion, and reduce the effect of chronic stress on the body. Since the goal of these classes is to alleviate these symptoms, you need not fear that these classes will hurt you in any way.

2012 brings an increase to Lyn’s offerings with a “Yoga Intensive Training School” and her Viniyoga Student Teacher in Training, Lee Ann Maynard, specializing in “Lil’ Viniyoga for Children.” Look for these classes “sprinkled with a dash of silliness and oodles of fun” coming this Spring for our five to eight year olds!

Please check the most current Parks and Recreations book for a complete list of class times and dates. You may call Lyn with your questions at 245-1691 or email her at viniyoga@cox.net.
