What Do You Want to Read About?

Sometimes the most difficult part about writing this monthly article is coming up with a NEW topic about the Library. I frequently hear from readers that they enjoy the articles, and I thank you. However, I’m going to issue a challenge to the readers now: let me know what you would like me to write about. The topic needs to be related to the library. After all, the column is called “Library Corner.”  Drop an e-mail to info@bclibrary.org with “MAGAZINE ARTICLE” in the subject line, and then mention what you would like to know about the Library. I’ll do my best to cover the suggested topics in the roughly 300-400 words I’m allowed each month.

Another really good way to find out about what we do at the Library is to attend our monthly Board of Trustees meetings.  I’m the Director of the Library, but I report to a five member Board of Trustees. Those Trustees are appointed by the Clark County Commissioners. Each Trustee must reside in Boulder City. Currently, the Members of the Board are: Amy Carvalho, Gary Berger, Valerie McNay, Beth Molburg and Ed Barrow.

The Board meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm in our Board Room. The standing exception to that rule is the month of May, when the meeting is held on the third Thursday of the month. This is a public meeting, and you are each welcome to attend. We even have a spot on the agenda for public comment.

Agendas for the meeting are posted in the Library lobby, at City Hall, at the Senior Center, on the bulletin board at Central Market and on the Library’s website.

Speaking of our website, if you can’t make it to the Board Meetings, you can find information about the Library on our website: www.bclibrary.org. Not only can you find the information about upcoming Board Meetings, but you can find the minutes from past meetings as well as information about services, computer classes and programs.

You can also learn what is going on at the Library by “liking” us on Facebook, we make regular updates to let you know what is going on at the Library. We also frequently post photos from our programs.
