A Sense of Place at the Holidays

Our City recreation facilities are home to many holiday functions. Some have a long history like the Community Club’s 37th Annual Doodlebug Bazaar held December 3rd in our Recreation Center gymnasiums at 900 Arizona Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Over 100 vendors will display their quality, handmade wares which include holiday decorations, ornaments, arts and crafts, clothing, toys and much more. All of the proceeds raised at this event stay within Boulder City and benefit community organizations such as Emergency Aid, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, Lend A Hand, Damboree, Parks and Recreation youth programs, Boulder City Hoover Dam Museum, the Senior Center and many more. For more information on this event contact Linda Graham at 278-6603.

New to the 900 Arizona Street facility is the 2nd annual Gingerbread House Competition and Christmas Faire held November 25-27. This event is open Friday 3-9 p.m., Saturday 10a.m.-5p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-4p.m. In additional to fabulous gingerbread houses, you will be treated to live music, gift shopping and a wine bar. Admission is $2 for adults, children 12 and under are free.

This year’s Luminaria will be held at the Recreation Center on December 1st at 6 p.m. This live re-enactment of the Nativity will also host local talent performing beautiful holiday music.

The Multi-Use Building at Broadbent Park can be booked for family, business or organization parties. This facility books fast, so call 293-9256 to make sure your preferred time slot is available.

Holiday events can be booked at BC Muni Golf Course by calling 293-9236 & Boulder Creek Golf Club by calling 294-6538.

The best of the holiday season to all of you and remember the best stress relief is exercise. Sign up for a Zumba class, visit the Community Fitness Center or join a swim program to keep you fit both physically and mentally this holiday season. The benefits are endless at the Recreation Department. Call 293-9256 for more information about these classes.
