In the Youth Department, our SRP is called “ONE WORLD, MANY STORIES”, and is about our great-big-multi-cultural world. All readers, from the youngest book lovers who have to have their favorite stories read to them, to 15-year-old veteran readers may participate and earn incentives each time they complete a reading log. 10th to August 6th with reader registration through the summer. Each time a reader turns in a reading log, they are entered to win one of special drawing prizes at the end of the program. This summer, participants have the choice between winning a small incentive with each reading log or donating their prize for a charity. For each child who donates a prize, we will put $1.00 into a fund to give to Clark County Reads. We hope to be able to donate $250.00 by the end of the program.
Back by popular demand is Summer Library Bingo for readers ages 16 and older. Each reader has the opportunity to earn up to 3 different prizes by completing an Easy Bingo, a Hard Bingo and a Cover-All Bingo, all on the same Bingo sheet. Readers fill up their sheets by reading books, using our computer lab and other simple library-related tasks. Each time a reader completes a Bingo, they also earn a chance to win a prize from the drawing at the end of the program. Summer Library Bingo begins June 25th and runs through September 3rd.
In addition to the SRP, we will be offering lots of special programs for kids and families all summer including Family Movies, Craft Sessions, Storytellers, Magicians, Archeologists, Park Rangers, Book Clubs and more. Be sure to pick up a calendar of events on your next trip into the library. You can also see a calendar of events on our web site at www.bclibrary.org or on our Facebook page.
Our Summer Reading Programs have been co-sponsored by the Boulder City Library, The Rotary Club of Boulder City and a Nevada State Library LSTA Grant.
