Updates

When should you update your computer software? Now! It’s very important to keep your current software updated, including windows. Many software companies are always fixing bugs and security issues as they become aware of them, and adding these bug and security updates to their software.

Personal files can include such things as music, pictures, videos, and bookmarks. You are using cloud computing right now if you use Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo e-mail. These programs run through a web browser and your information is kept online.

Google is coming out with a new Cloud system called Chromebook. It is software that uses a laptop-like computer to access, use and store your apps, documents, and settings safely in the “cloud”. So even if you lose your computer, you can just log in to another Chromebook and get right back to work.

Every Chromebook runs millions of web apps, from games to spreadsheets to photo editors. Using the power of HTML5, many apps keep working when you’re not connected. No CDs required. Because you log in to your own account online, there is no personal information on the Chromebook. Security is built in to the computer chip and the operating system is designed to defend against the ongoing threat of malware and viruses. That’s right; no Mac OS and no Windows OS. When you turn the Chromebook on, it updates itself automatically. All your apps stay up-to-date, and you get the latest version of the operating system.

With a Chromebook, there is no more patching and upgrades. No need to purchase licenses for anti-virus, data encryption or data back-up software. Because Chromebooks use subscription pricing, you only pay a monthly fee. To find out more about Chromebooks, go to www.google.com/chromebook. The only problem I see is you won’t be able to work or play if you are offline.

If you use the Chrome web browser, now you can play Angry Birds. And look for the hidden Chrome logos for bonus rounds. www.chrome.angrybirds.com
