An Ever Changing World
The Recreation Department’s semi-annual brochure is now available at www.bcnv.org. Copies can also be obtained at the Recreation Department, Pool, Public Information Office/BCTV, City Hall, Chamber and the Library.

What does the new brochure have to offer? Hmm, hmm, good are new cooking classes with local Chef Dallas Mayer. Monthly classes will be offered in diabetic, vegetarian, budget friendly meal cooking and cake decorating. Next, and I would have loved this one when my babies were born, is a baby stroller fitness class for new moms to get back on track with their children right along side them while engaging with adult peers. What could be better than that?

With the City’s 50th Anniversary of Incorporation and having the privilege of producing the Recreation Department Brochure, I couldn’t help but to include some historical photographs. If you have any history in Boulder City during the ‘50s, ‘60s, or ‘70s, there’s a good chance that you may recognize someone in the photographs. I will give you a hint: two of the people in one of the photographs currently work for the City and one just recently retired.

At the time of writing this article, not all of the people in the photographs had been identified. These photographs are enlarged and available for you to review more closely at our main office at 900 Arizona Street. We would appreciate you stopping by to help identify some of them. Who knows, one of them might even be you.

I’ve provided one of the photographs of two young girls in an elementary school program that took place in what is now the Recreation Department gymnasium. For those of you who may not know this, at one time the Recreation Department and City Hall were the City’s elementary schools. Can you identify either of these girls?

We hope you enjoy our new brochure and partake in as many of our programs as time allows. For more information, contact us at 293-9256 or visit us at 900 Arizona Street.
