So, you are sitting in an aircraft on the tarmac next to 23 other airplanes, all of which have been diverted to Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. from JFK, New York. You are waiting to unload so that you can finally find out how you are going to get home. With a regular cell phone you can try to call your airline and make a new reservation, but with JFK closed and 6,000 other people trying to call, the lines are busy with a 60+ minute wait.
There are two things you can do: One, use your cell phone to call someone that has a computer and have them book you a flight. Two, if you have a smart phone you can just go online yourself and book your flight, make hotel reservations, e-mail your friends, and start telling your story.
Thank you Southwest Airlines for your 7 a.m. non-stop flight to Las Vegas from Washington, D.C. It always feels great to come home to Boulder City.
