New Staff

In the last few months, we have had a lot of staff changes at the Boulder City Library. I thought it was time to catch you up on all the new faces in the Library.

Kay, who was our shelver in the Youth Department for several years, retired and moved back to Texas. Just before the Summer Reading Program began, Margot became our new shelver in the Youth Services area. Margot did a great job of keeping up with shelving the kids’ books during the Summer-Reading-Rush!

Maria, one of our Technical Services Clerks who you may remember from the Circulation Desk, left us to pursue a teaching career. Margie is learning the ropes of processing books in our back room, but you will see her at the Circulation Desk as well.

Miss B, or Becky, left us in May. Our new Youth Services Librarian is Kim. She has previous experience as a Youth Services Librarian with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, and further experience working with Children’s Books from running her own bookstore. You will see Kim in the Youth Department, at the Reference Desk, and occasionally at the Circulation Desk.

Fran, who has taken care of our magazines and newspapers for “years and years” has also retired. Our new Periodicals Clerk is Katie. You will see her at the Circulation Desk and anywhere our magazines are to be found.

Stanna has joined us as one of our Circulation Substitutes. Carol, who used to be in the Youth Services Department, will re-join the staff in October as another Circulation Substitute.

Hillary, who did story times and other fun activities in the Youth Department, found a full-time position that she just couldn’t pass up. Kim and I will be working together to fill that opening this fall.

Because we have so many new staff members, it is important that you bring your Library Card when you visit the library. You can’t count on being helped by someone who has known you forever. When you come in, be sure to say “Hi” to our new staff and make some new friends at the Library.
