Neat Nevada Notes: In 1973 the Nevada Legislature selected Desert Bighorn Sheep as our State Animal. With a 10 to 15 year lifespan, these beautiful, hardy animals are well adapted to our harsh desert environment. Could you survive visiting a water hole just every three days in summer? In winter their water source is often green vegetation. However, when water is plentiful, they drink daily! A bighorn’s gourmet diet includes grasses, leaves, a few woody plants, shrubs, and the occasional cactus. Yum! Four chambered stomachs aid in digesting this less than tender fare.
Town Treasurers: Few probably realize the devotion of time and genuine caring about our community we get from Jill Rowland-Lagan. I’ve known Jill since she was a mere sprout dancing her heart out. Judy and Jim Bob did a fabulous job preparing Jill to tackle running the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce as she has for the last 8 years while she also excels as a wife and mother. She’s full of energy and great ideas, and never hesitates to shoulder what needs to be done. Early the Monday morning after Spring Jamboree, who did I spy trudging through the parks picking up the remaining trash? Miss Jill and her trusty side-kick, Christy Springate-Hill - they didn’t want to leave any sign of the weekend Chamber event in the parks. Thank you both for caring about Boulder City.
