Managing Stress Lecture
A few times a year I give a lecture entitled “Managing Stress During Difficult Times”. I think it is very beneficial to learn what stress is, what impact it can have on the body and mind, and what we can do to manage it. If we learn this information and practice techniques to address stress, we may be better equipped to deal with life and its complexities.

We all experience stress. Some of us react more than others, and some of us are faced with a lot more challenges than others. It is my view that there are circumstances when psychotherapy and/or medication are beneficial, giving someone a foothold so that they have a reasonable starting point to begin to manage their stress.

All that said, sometimes when we are in a stressful situation we find ourselves resorting to managing stress through techniques like venting or eating a lot of cookies. Probably not the most skillful approach, but we’ve all been there. This lecture may help you to fill in some missing pieces in understanding what stress is and what skillful means we can apply to a variety of situations.

I will present “Managing Stress During Difficult Times” in Las Vegas at The Breast Center at Sunrise (Sunrise Hospital Campus, 3006 S. Maryland Parkway) on Thursday, April 10th, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. This class is free of charge.

In Boulder City, this lecture will be presented on Thursday, April 17th from 9 –11 a.m. at Dance. Etc. in Hotel Plaza. There is a $10 fee for this class, although no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The "Managing Stress During Difficult Times" lecture will include a 10 page handout. Please RSVP for either class by calling me at 279-9523 so I will know how many handouts to prepare and how many chairs to set up.

No matter how insignificant the thing you have to do, do it as well as you can, give it as much of your care and attention as you would give to the thing you regard as most important.
