A Kid's View

Tornado!
The other day I looked outside and it was pretty cloudy. A while later a tornado warning appeared on the weather channel. Then a tornado siren went off! Then it started pouring. When the rain started, my dad told my mom and I to hurry and get in the truck (Lucy, my dog, too). It was scary! When we got to my grandparents house, the siren went off again but this time it went off three times.

Yep, we were going to have a tornado! Luckily, it didn’t come anywhere near where I live. It was by a close lake. My dad wanted to go to my grandma’s and grandpa’s house because their house is much sturdier than our house is. While we were there, my grandma was making pork chops and mashed potatoes. Lucky us! It was really, really good. After eating, we played cards while it was still pouring. We went outside a couple of times to see if any tornadoes touched the ground, but none did, so that was good. My grandparents have a dog too so it was fun to do stuff with both of our dogs.
When we left to go home it was night so we were at my grandparents’ house for almost a whole day! When I lay in bed that night I was so afraid that a tornado would come while I was sleeping, but luckily none did.

The next day I found out that three tornadoes touched the ground at the same time, but one didn’t last too long. My social studies teacher lives by the lake so she took some pictures, but when the tornado came by her house, she went into her basement. She shared her pictures with the class and it was very awesome to see.
