Some Helpful Web Sites
Always on the lookout for information and little tidbits that might make planning a trip easier or help to make it special, I was pleased to read an article in the travel magazine of the airline on which I flew home from Minnesota recently, which listed some interesting websites. Here are a few I thought you might like.

If you are among the growing number of people conscious of the impact of travel on the environment, there is a website, greenglobe.org, which contains information and ideas on resorts, tours and even rental cars that meet sustainable travel and tourism criteria. Personally, I was pleased that the company I traveled to the Galapagos Islands with this past January made sure my presence there made as small an impact as possible.

Love those spa retreats? Spafinder.com may be the ticket for you. This site lists day spas, spa-resorts, and destination resorts by city, state and zip code.

Have kids, or enjoy theme parks? The site, themeparkinsider.com rates and reviews theme parks around the world. The article stated, “Its best and worst roller coaster rankings are amusing and its “Accident Watch” page is essential.”

Can’t leave home without your laptop? Check out jiwire.com, where you can search for wireless connectivity in 128 countries by zip code or city – even airport code.
I found kropla.com helpful. It provides info on electrical adapters, phone plugs and calling codes for your countries of choice.

If health issues are on your mind, the place to find travel tips for pregnant women as well as health warnings for countries on your itinerary is cdc.gov/travel. Its extensive country search feature shows a map of the region to which you’re headed, posts travel notices from the U.S. State Department, and lists things to keep in mind before, during and after your trip.
