After the program is installed it will help you get started. There is a test account to see if your software is working correctly. You click on Skype test call and click on the green phone button. You will hear a dialing and then a connection. Just follow the instructions and leave a message to test your system.
Who are you going to call? You can search your e-mail addresses for everyone that is on Skype or just click on the search button and search by a person’s name or e-mail address. Then you can add them to your contact list, and once they approve you to call them, you are all set. Now you will see a list of your friends that you can call and there will be a green check mark by the ones that are online. As I write this there are 2,521,934 users online.
You can also use Skype to IM (Instant Message) someone if you don’t want to talk to them. There are some pay services available too, like Skypeout that lets you call from Skype to traditional landlines or mobiles, and Skypein is a phone number your friends can call and you answer it on Skype.
It’s fun and free so give it a try. Happy Holidays!
I have had a lot of calls about what to do with old computers. You can take them to Virgil at Compunet, 1612 Carse Drive, Boulder City, Nevada 89005 or phone him at 702-294-8429. You might even get a trade in credit for them.
