U.S. Congressman Jon C. Porter
$1.5 MILLION SECURITY TRAINING GRANT
Washington, D.C. U.S. Representative Jon Porter (R-NV) announced a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the amount of $1,500,000 for the Community College of Southern Nevada to develop a “train-the-trainer” program.“
In this day and age, we need to be prepared for the unexpected and provide our law enforcement and rescue workers with the best training possible,” said Rep. Porter. “This program will teach our security professionals the intricacies of terrorism, including key aspects of prevention, deterrence, response, and recovery.”
The award is being made under the Fiscal Year 2004 Competitive Training Grant Program, which is administered by the DHS’s Office of State and Local Government Coordination and Preparedness.
