The Godbey family penstock photograph taken December 24, 1934, reproduced on tiles would be a tremendous asset to the artistic and historic culture of Boulder City. The Godbey family was and is strongly involved in the development of Boulder City. Not only did Tom Godbey work in the Boulder Canyon Project (building of Hoover Dam & Boulder City), he was instrumental in building the first Boulder City ball fields, was a Nevada State assemblyman, on the committee to incorporate Boulder City, a member of the Damboree Committee and so much more. Tom Godbey instilled his love of community into family members and they too have contributed immensely to Boulder City’s many successes.
The mural will be placed on a downtown Boulder City building facing Nevada Way. The method attaching the mural will be one that, if need be, it can be relocated in the future. The Boulder City Arts Council with the support of the Godbey Family is seeking funds to bring this project to the community. We’d like to extend the opportunity to all interested parties to participate in the success of this project.
